A professor from Lucknow University has been arrested after allegations surfaced that he offered to leak examination papers to a female student in exchange for personal favours.

The accused, Paramjeet Singh, serves as an assistant professor in the university’s Zoology Department. He was taken into custody after an alleged audio recording of his conversation with the student circulated widely on social media.

According to reports, the professor was allegedly heard making inappropriate remarks and offering access to examination papers before the upcoming exams.

Student Reportedly Approached University Administration

The student, a final-year BSc candidate, reportedly informed university authorities after experiencing severe mental distress over the incident.

Following the complaint, the university administration initiated action, and Controller of Examinations Vidyanand Tripathi submitted a formal complaint to the police.

Based on the complaint, an FIR was registered at Hasanganj Police Station and police began questioning the accused professor.

Accused Denies Allegations

Paramjeet Singh has denied all accusations against him and claimed he is being falsely implicated due to internal disputes and politics within the university.

Police officials are currently examining the viral audio clip and investigating the allegations in detail.

University Orders Internal Probe

Vice Chancellor JP Saini has directed the university’s Internal Complaints Committee to conduct an inquiry into the matter and submit its report within 24 hours.

In an official statement, the university administration said it follows a strict zero-tolerance policy towards any behaviour that damages the institution’s dignity and academic environment.

ABVP Stages Protest on Campus

Following the controversy, members of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) organised protests inside the university campus, demanding strict action and immediate suspension of the accused professor.

ABVP leaders stated that such incidents harm the reputation of educational institutions and called for strong legal action over allegations related to sexual harassment and compromising examination integrity.
