Education Minister to Address Media on NEET

Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan is scheduled to address the media at 10:30 AM at 19 Teen Murti Marg in New Delhi regarding the upcoming NEET examination and related developments.

The briefing comes amid growing concerns among students after the cancellation of the earlier examination due to alleged irregularities.

High-Level Review Meeting Held

On May 14, a late-night review meeting was held at the residence of the Education Minister to assess preparations for the re-examination.

Several senior officials attended the meeting, including representatives from the Higher Education Department, School Education Department, National Testing Agency, CBSE, Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS), and Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS).

Officials reviewed security arrangements, exam logistics and measures to ensure transparency and fairness during the conduct of the examination.

NEET UG 2026 Exam Was Cancelled After Paper Leak Reports

Earlier this month, the NTA cancelled the NEET UG 2026 examination following reports of a large-scale paper leak that allegedly affected more than 22 lakh candidates across the country.

Following the controversy, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) was assigned to investigate the alleged irregularities linked to the examination process.

The cancellation triggered widespread concern among medical aspirants and parents, leading the government to fast-track arrangements for a fresh examination.

NEET UG Remains One of the Largest Exams Globally

Before the cancellation, the NEET UG 2026 exam had been conducted across 551 cities in India and 14 international cities through more than 5,400 examination centres.

According to official figures, around 22.79 lakh candidates had registered for the entrance examination, making NEET one of the largest competitive exams in the world.

The provisional answer key for the cancelled examination had earlier been released by the NTA on May 6.
